Thanks Beverly,
I have come upon more name changes in the family. Seems as if people in those days didn't like their name they simply called themselves something else.
My Grand Father "James" Nicholson (one census) "Jack" another,
in 1870 Maury, Co. Tn. as a 10 yr old was "Jackson V."
On my Fathers death certificate "Vanburen"
He was divorced and might have remarried Hopkins Co. as
"N.J.V" Nicholson. I can't prove that one.
In 1930 census he was back to his childhood name Jackson V.
I know the James and Jack was he, because he had same wife and children. My father one of them.
I know he had brothers William Henry, Winfield and at least one sister Mary Virgina.
I now think he was born Ga.or Maury Co. Tn.
His Father James M. married a Marinda Buckner in Ga. 1850 in 1870 TN. had a Caroline living with him, Whom I thought married him in Delta Co. (Nancy Caroline Ray) He had land holdings in Ga. Tn. Delta co. and Hopkins Co. also Crawford Co Ark. where he died.
Actually John W. was the age to have been a brother to My grand father. (Most likely a cousin) but, My J.V. Nicholson's Gr.Grandfather Was a John Nicholson from Ga.
So the search goes on and every little chip helps.
Thanks so much.
