You are so helpful with your info. With the establishment of his firm in 1876 then he definitely had to reside in Dallas in 1880. I would agree on the spelling being way off just because of his position in the area. J T Dargan is listed as Fire Ins Agent. I may have to do a house by house search. Anyway the collected annual premiums tells us his firm was doing well and explains how he could afford to build his mansion across the road from the cotton baron, Sheppard King.
