I noticed on a map taken from the General Land office in Austin, Texas of Dallas before the 1860's shows a James B. McCommas and not to far away a L.McCommas. The reason I am posting is that William James the husband of Jane Rentfro James were located in between these two McCommas's. In 1861, William James died and Jane Rentfro married into the McCommas Family. In a copy of the 1880 Census indicates her living in Fort Worth under the married name of McCommas. Jane McCommas as it reads but the new husband was not listed. (probably died) I just wanted to let you know the association my family has had with the McCommas Family. This map is printed in a book called "Lisbon West of the Trinity" by Helen B. Anthony. I hope this makes some ties.
