Hi Rick, I checked on the birth date on marker and was told it was wrong also.
BUT had good luck and found Miss Mabelle E. Vaughan living at 223 Ross Avenue in 1897 City Directory. A very big discovery that tells me she did not come to Dallas in 1899 as thought.
Noticed a Laura E. Vaughan [widow of W. G.]living at 181 Ross Avenue. Could this be the Aunt that Mabelle said often helped her?
Mabelle stated her mother was dead on the 1899 guardian paper -father gone-marked through and said dead. She married same day.
I do wonder what was located at those addresses in 1897? Seems that is also the address Mabelle lived at about 1909 as Mabelle Steer.
Any ideas on where I might find info on those addresses-maybe old city maps????
Anyway, thought you might want to know info. Thanks, Doris
