Disappointing that you seem to have such a disparaging view of the "southern half of our nation".
Do you just ignore that old cemeteries in the North have also been abandoned or are not kept up to your standard?
I worked at cleaning up an old cemetery, Mosier Valley, in 1996. It's located in South Euless, Tarrant County, and there is only one white family buried there among the hundred or so others. The white guy was the slave owner and treated his people very well in the 1800s. .....In mowing and cutting brush, we found that most headstones were sandstone, so the carved data had mostly eroded away.
I don't believe that Southerners or Texans disrespect old cemeteries more than people elsewhere do, as your posting implies.
