Dear Rick,

Thank you so much for retrieving the obit for Allie Randolph BARNETT. The obit gives me another child, his son Sam L. and also the married name of his daughter.

I don't believe the Mrs.John DENTON is the one I'm looking for.

The family I've been tracing is Joseph S. BARNETT m. Pandora Ann STRICKLAND on Apr 15, 1887 in Independence Co, AR. She is my grandmother's sister. Several siblings left AR for TX before 1900.

I found Joseph, Pandora and Allie in the 1900 Kaufman Co, TX census. I then located a WWI Draft record for Allie Randolph BARNETT who I originally thought was a female based on the 1900 census which apparently was incorrect. With the WWI info I located the 1910, 1920 & 1930 census where I found Pandora listed as Dora and in 1920 living next to her son, Allie Randolph BARNETT & his family.

I then located the death records in the TX death database and the birth of Allie's daughter in the TX birth database. The 1910 census is difficult to read and at first I thought Pandora's 2nd husband was a M.E. DENTON but now I believe it is W.E. DENTON as I found a death record in 1914 for a W.E. DENTON in Tarrant Co, TX. The 1920 & 1930 census shows Pandora "Dora" DENTON as being widowed in both census records.

Allie's obit indicates there must have been a older son J. H. DENTON born to W.E. DENTON that I didn't have from the census since he was not living in his father's household in 1910 nor in Dora's in 1920 & 1930. I haven't located a 1930 census on Allie yet so don't know if his wife's name is Margarete or Margaret so am unsure of TX death record. I believe there is one for a Margaret DENTON but will have to check the date to see if it is after Allie's death year per his obit.

The Feb 20, 1970 TX death record for Dora DENTON would mean she died at the age of 99 if it is her death record.

Here is my documentation on these families:
