"G. C. Cooper, 70, Retired Motorman And Driver, Dies
Grover C. Cooper 70, retired Dallas Transit Company employee died Thursday in a Dallas hospital after a long illness.
A native of Stockdale, Wilson County, Cooper had lived in Dallas for about 40 years before his retirement in July, 1951. He went to work at Dallas Transit --then the Dallas Railway & Terminal Company -- as a streetcar and bus operator in 1920. After his retirement, he moved to the Lake Dallas area.
He was a member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge.
Surviviors include his wife; two sons, Edward Cooper and James Cooper of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Hayden Cunningham and Mrs. J. Z. George of Dallas; a brother, a sister and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Sparkman-Brand Funeral Chapel, 2115 Ross, with the Rev. C. W. Wilson officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park."
