If you haven't located Fort Parker near Groesbeck, Limestone Co., TX, check your map. The town named for Quanah Parker, was Quanah, TX. , not OK. Quanah, son of Peta Nocona and Cynthia Ann Parker, lived at Cache, Comanche Co., OK. His large 2 story house had a blue roof with white stars painted on it. He made peace with the US government after the Battle of Adobe Walls in the Texas panhandle When his house was built, he had the stars painted on the house he built for he and his several wives to show he was a loyal American. Unfortunately a number of years back the Army decided they needed his place at Cache to enlarge their artillery range and the old place was lost. Not sure if it was moved or not. So much for the treaty stating the land was hisand his heirs as long as water flowed, grass became green, etc.
Contact the Comanche Co. genealogy society at Lawton or contact the Lawton Library. There is lots of data available on Cynthia Ann's story and her son.
