Hmmm. After all the time and trouble I've gone thru, could we have the name wrong re: Oscar? My mom insists that was his name, per info. she recalls from my dad. But your info. re: his birth in Williamson County is indeed very compelling, although they obviously badly misspelled Inez Imhoff's name (Cruz Wihhofs) when transcribing the record for internet purposes. They did the same to her re: Michael James' birth record there too, wrongly reflecting her name as "Inez Duhoff". My dad is no longer alive to ask about brother's correct name (John Henry Edgar Davis or Oscar Henry Davis). I'm inclined to believe you, and start hunting for him in Ft Worth, Arlington, and Dallas under the name JOHN HENRY EDGAR DAVIS instead. So I will soon post another query in all those counties to that efect.
FYI, the Inez D. Crow you found born in 1906 died in Jul 1991 in Fort Worth is definitely incorrect (not my grandmom). In fact, the other cite you provided that you thought was incorrect is actually correct, as I know my grandmother Inez M. Imhoff Davis Crow is buried at Ft Sam (died 1935). I go to her grave often to leave flowers, and my dad himself showed us her grave.
Am surprised at another tidbit of info. you have kindly provided. Specifically, we Did not know Inez lived with her parents in Bexar Co. in 1910, but I can tell the reference you found IS about them. [Our info. was they were living in Travis Co. in 1900 and in 1920 census they were in Williamson Co., Tx.]
Also, i recognize as correct the other 1930 census info. you provided about Shannon being at Ft. Sam then, and my dad (and his sister Jean and bro. Michael) being at the orphanage, and Inez and Oscar???(name) being together at that time at their home. I already had info. he was the only one she didn't place in the orphanage from 1929-1930 at time she divorced James Davis and was trying to get her life in order without him. Believe they divorced sometime in 1929, somewhere in Tx. [She retrieved the other 3 kids back out of the orphanage later in 1930 after marrying Shannon.] But also find perplexing the 1930 census info. abt Inez, reflecting she had a 9 yr. old son C___d living with her. To my knowledge, at that time, she only had 4 kids (the 3 in the orphange, and the boy my mom says was named Oscar?). She apparently kept him with her, due to his age. She also was apparently sharing expenses at that time with another female abt her same age. What's weird though is the 1930 census reflects that the father of her son, Henry Edgar, then age 2 yrs, 8 mos old., was born in NB (Nebraska???). I know he was born in TN. This TN info. is directly per the orphanage records, as to all 3 kids. But I agree your 1930 census reference to Inez Davis IS abt my grandmom. Her age is exactly correct.
Please allow me to thank you also for another very important piece of info. you have provided to me, that of my grandfather's extremely elusive MIDDLE NAME. Have totally been able to come up with it, after much much effot. Thanks to you, now I know it was "EDGAR", and this conforms with info. I obtained after begging a vital records clerk in east Tx for info. re: same. She nodded assent when I asked if it began with the letter "E". Thank you so much. This should make my task researching my grandfather JAMES "EDGAR" DAVIS much much easier.
Lastly, Mary Ann Crow is indeed Inez' daughter by her 2nd spouse, Shannon. Knew about that too. Besides our search for her, her Crow family in AK is also looking for her. Think she is still alive too, somewhere in WVA or VA, per her AK Crow cousin whom I've recently located.
Thanks so much for being so gracious and kind and giving of your time and effort. With kindest regards, I am,
