James G. Day, 89, died Sunday, September 17, 2000 at Coon Memorial Hospital in Dalhart, Texas. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 21, 2000, at the First Baptist Church Chapel with burial in Texline Cemetery under the direction of Hass Funeral Home, Dalhart. Reverend Stephen Lowrie, Minister, will be officiating. James was born May 5, 1911, in Carlena, Texas, to Charlie J. and Helen (O‘Brien) Day. Mr. Day married Bessie Neal on November 12, 1929, in Clayton, New Mexico. He and Bessie moved to their ranch in 1936. Bessie died on November 26, 1985. Mr. Day drilled wells and was a farmer\rancher in the Texline area. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Dalhart. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and his parents. Survivors include: one daughter, Peggy Zager of Albuquerque; three sons, Charlie Day and Woody Day of Tex1ine, and Jimmy Day of Clayton; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
