I agree with you. I couldn't find her prior to 1900 either.

Mittie Caudle White House
Born: July 20, 1846
Died: Arpil 16, 1901
Spouse: james T House (1835-1907)
Buried: Sipe Springs Cemetery, Sipe Springs, Comanche, TX; Plot Block 1, Lot 2

I'd contact the Comanche County Clerk, and ask if their death records go back to 1901. If yes, I'd order a copy of her death certificate.

If no, are the early records kept somewhere else? The Mormon Church does have microfilms of County records 1858-1955 which include births, marriages, divorce, court probate records, etc., You'd have to find your local Mormon Church's Family History Center and visit them to rent the applicable film. Or you can wait until they're digitized and appear on their web site,

Then I'd look for her obituary. The Comanche County Genealogy Society meets at the Comanche County Historical Museum, 402 Moorman Rd., Comanche. But then there's another reference to the Comanche Public Library, 311 N. Austin St., Comanche, TX 76442, 325-356-2122. I don't know if the Genealogical Society or Library will look up an obituary.

You might have to contact or lookup their marriage license in San Saba County. I don't know anything about that county at this time.

J T House
Died: 17 Nov 1907, Sipe Springs, Comanche, TX
