Southern Cemeteries

For some years now, I have been concerned about the lack of caring for headstones and markers of various types in the numberless cemeteries, especially in the southern half of our nation. So many of those headstones and markers are the only visible and personal things that remain to show each individualÕs last place in history.

Over the years countless cemeteries have been taken over by new owners who are only interested in profit. Too, there are also countless old free cemeteries where prison inmates are used to mow the cemeteries. Thus, the inmates are careless and there is no punishment for ramming those mowers into headstones which cracks or chips or totally knocks over the old standing headstones which breaks them into pieces that are carted away to the back of the cemetery and dumped on top of other broken headstones.

Thus, we are to believe there is no maintenance for those free cemeteries except to allow in mowing machines where there isnÕt enough room for their usage, but the person who oversees and allows such usage doesnÕt care any more than the inmates if there is destruction.

As for the other cemeteries whose owners are in it for the profit, a complaint is useless because no one stands up and demands they be accountable.

Please join me in holding people accountable for the destruction of part of our past. Your input is important to help resolve this issue.
