I'm assuming you took information from SSDI. That only shows "last residence." From TX Dth Idx it shows Edwin actually died in Bexar Co, TX, and that's where his death would be recorded.
You might try RAOGK (Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness) site -- http://www.raogk.org/faq-requesters.htm -- there are volunteers listed for Bexar Co, TX. Some will do vital record lookups. His death certificate might say something about when and where he was born. You could ask someone to look for his obituary, too. But, if he really lived in Comal, it's likely his obit would be published there. I would try both.
