My great-grandmother was the sister of Levi Wells Smith. Her name was Mary Margaret Smith and she married James Buchanan Mathis in Clarke county, MS about 1882. Their parents were Levi Turner Smith and Elizabeth Dorsett and they were married in Marion county, Georgia in 1852. I believe that Levi Turner Smith's father was Wells Smith born about 1805 in Georgia. Wells Smith was listed on the 1840 and 1850 census in Marion county, Georgia. This is only a guess since Levi Turner Smith named a son of his Levi Wells.
Levi Turner Smith and Elizabeth Dorsett are buried in a little cemetery way out in the country in Choctaw county, Alabama. I can email you a photograph if you would like to have it. Please contact me privately.
