I know this is an older post, but new/old records have come online and I didn't know if you'd seen them. You can view the digitized copies of old Texas death certificates.

TX Dth Idx 1890-1976 --;p=2;c=1320964;t=searchable

Baxter, George W., b 9 Sep 1830, AL; d 1 Nov 1913, Coleman, Coleman Co, TX; widowed; Father Jessie Baxter; Mother [blank]; Informant P.S. Baxter [could that be son Peter? There is a Pete S. in Coleman on the 1910 census.]

On Rootsweb's WorldConnect -- -- you'll find some others working on this line. Three matches for George, but many more if you enter Jesse and wife Temperance. Just be careful as there are many errors on that site. Are Elizabeth Chitwood and Mary Jarvice the same person? Maiden name Chitwood, first marriage to Jarvis? Submitters on WorldConnect do not seem to have picked up on the Jarvice marriage. But, the 1880 census shows the Jarvice stepson.

1880 census DeKalb Co, AL:

Category: Name; Relationship to head of household; Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

George BAXTER Self Male W 47 GA Farmer --- ---

Minna BAXTER Dau S Female W 8 AL GA NC

Happy Hunting (^_^)
