Wilburn Matthews RR employee Coleman, Santa Anna
Posted by: Juanita (Matthews) Niswonger (ID *****0203) Date: March 25, 2002 at 08:05:41

Born 12 April 1880, Plantersville, Grimes County, Texas, died 25 December 1973 in Brownwood, Brown County, Texas.
Lived most many years in Coleman, Coleman County, Texas and Santa Anna, Coleman County, Texas.
The Coleman County Cemetery records show him as W.B. Matthews, the Funeral home in Santa Anna, has him as Wilbur Matthews, his obituary from the Brownwood, Texas newspaper has him as William B. Matthews, my grandfather's obituary shows him as Wilmer Matthews, the 1920 Lamar County, Texas has him as Wilburn B. Matthews, the 1910 Tarrant County, Texas census has him as Wilburn Matthews. His father was George Matthews born in Georgia, mother born in Alablama. He married Mae P. Wilson about 1909, also seen printed as Manila Pearl Wilson. Her headstone has Mae P. Matthews. He retired from the Railroad, had the follwing children: Gladys (Matthews) Branum, Leoma (Matthews) Miller, Lucille (Matthews) Rushing, Elbridge Calvin Matthews, and Everett Matthews.
I have a picture I think is of him, and would like to have someone help me verify that. Also working on his parents and siblings, especially need to confirm that Nolan C. Matthews is his brother.
Thanks for your help, Juanita (Matthews) Niswonger mcduff@gte.net
