I found an obit in Helen Crawford's book of Cherokee County Obituaries Vol. I. page 144
Obit Date: 10-20-1908
MRS. MARY A. NICHOLS died at the home of her son, C.W. Nichols, in this city Sunday afternoon shortly after 6 o'clock. She had been apparently in usual health up to a short time before her death, and was at ther supper table when attacked by a fainting spell, a few minutes later she was dead. Mrs. Nichols was nearly 68 years of age. She is survived by her husband, Dr. V.T. Nichols, and two sons.
This seems to comfirm that Vincent was a doctor. Hope this helps you.
