John A. Stewart b. 1798 in NC d. 1883 in Cass county. Married Nancy Jane Givens 1821 in Roane co. TN. Moved from TN to MS around 1837 and then to Cass county TX around 1850. John was listed as the first Mayor of Linden in 1854.

Rufus M. Stewart born 1833 in TN
2 unknown sons also born in TN
Jane Holt Stewart b. 1822 in TN
Mary Stewart b. abt. 1829 in TN
Sarah (Sally) Stewart b. about 1840 in MS
