Looking for death certificate for my grandfather, Vincent T. Nichols, born 3/24/1839 and died 5/24/1926 in the San Benito area. Also, his son, Charles W. Nichols died 2/21/1918 during the flu epidemic in San Benito. The story goes that my grandfather, Vincent T. Nichols was a doctor, farmer, etc., and was tending the sick during the flu epidemic and became ill with the flu himself. My grandmother sent for his son, Charles to help care for him and then Charles, the son, caught the flu, died and Vincent T. got well. Anything you can come up with on this family will be greatly appreciated. The family in 1926 consisted of Vincent T. Nichols, Mattie W. Nichols (my grandmother), children were: Jewel, Ruth, Lucy, and Bearl. I think Vincent's other son, Claude E. Nichols was also living in the same household. You can e-mail me at
Thanks for any info.
