Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Pamela,

The Callahan County Clarendon was the first newspaper to be published in Callahan County, the first number being issued at Belle Plaine by Albert D. Rust and William R. Lotz on Nov. 15, 1879. It was a five colume, four page paper and published at Belle Plaine until the county seat was moved to Baird in 1883.
I have a list of papers from a book called " Early Days in Callahan County" by B. C. Chrisman. I got it from my mother yesterday and then I bought one from Abilene Printing and Stationery for $29.95 plus shipping for a total of $37.83. Their number is 915-677-2673.
If I can help can reach me at: Debdhill@aol.com
