After viewing headstone on Find a Grave site, I would say the headstone was carved in 1894 when Thomas and his daughter died. You say Matilda was also buried there, what is your source for that? Name and birth date for Matilda was included on the double headstone at time of burial for Thomas, so no death date for her at that time, of course. I would say she since she lived in Mass in 1943 and if she died around that time, it might have been a problem to ship her back to TX for burial during the war time. Troop travel on trains had priority at that time. I would look for her in Mass.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
