LOCKHART MUNICIPAL CEMETARY
Posted by: EDWARD LUNT (ID *****7037) Date: April 15, 2011 at 14:07:14

hi there, ive a great uncle THOMAS HEWITT born in England
in 1858 who emigrated to the USA around 1880 and he died
in 1894 and was buried in the Lockhart Municipal Cemetary
together with one of his children Allie who died in 1894
AND his wife MATILDA was also buried in the cemetary with them.
But there doesnt seem to be a date of when she died or when she was buried in the Cemetary, which i cant understand how they can bury somebody and not have a date
for the burial!

In 1943 she was living in NEW BEDFORD Mass, age 86, that is according to a street directory. After Thomas died in 1894 Matilda moved to New Bedford to live with one of her chidren.
but I dont seem to be able to find a record of her death,
and I wonder if she was taken back to lOCKHART to be buried with her husband, or whether she died in New Bedford
and was then taken to Lockhart Cemetary to be buried there.

Does anyone know if the Cemetary or the Municipal Dept of Lockhart would have any records of her death and date of burial?

Thanks a lot. TED.
