Hi Angela,
Your Cowley family lived near my Polk family in Prairie Lea. I am wonderung if you have read "Trail Drivers of Texas"? J.M Cowley as a narrative in it
http://www.lib.utexas.edu/books/texasclassics/traildrivers/txu-oclc-12198638.html
I am confused by the narrative, as J.M. Cowley says his father was born in TN. and married his mother, Miss N.G. More, in Alabama. The narrative then calls my ggg.grandfather, Warnell Polk "father". I do wonder if it isn't a mistake in the translation they have posted on the web.
Robin
