Margaret Caroline "Callie" Taylor was the daughter of Anthony Taylor, who was born Anton Schneider in 1818 in Germany. He emigrated from Hanover with his family in 1830, but family tradition says that his parents died of cholera on the way to America. He is first found in the 1850 census of Virginia in Mason County (now WV) with a wife and two children; in 1860 in the census of Van Buren County, Arkansas, with the same wife and five children; and after that in Burnet County, Texas. He had ten children by two wives and was married twice after the second of those died--both the later wives left or divorced him. He died 20 Jan 1905 in Burnet County.
Callie was the seventh child, a daughter of the second wife, Martha Ann Lee (born 1842 in Tennessee, died 1872 in Burnet County), who Anthony married on 26 Oct 1862 in White County, Arkansas. Callie was born in Dec 1867 in Arkansas.
It was Margaret Caroline, not Martha*, Taylor who married William C(laud?) Peppers. I suspect they were married in Burnet County but have never checked. Emma, born in July 1884, was their first child. They had at least six more: Rodie, Mack, Claud, Earline, Eliza, and Ira (1900 Texas census names).
*Martha "Mattie" Taylor was the youngest of the Taylor children; she married (1) Hardy Pruitt. I don't recall offhand the name of her second husband.
