I am trying to connect some of the JAMES Families living in the late 1800's in Mills County, TX either together or to my Husbands line - Pleasant JAMES born January 18, 1809. I could not help but notice that you have a couple of simular given names and location in your query.

I have a probate record for guardianship of some minor children belonging to Jackson JAMES in Feb 1889. Mills County,TX Probate Book 1, page 78 and 79 (did not copy page 80) Jackson James guardian of Christian et al - this was filed in 1889 so bases on the ages of the children they were born as listed below:

Christian James born about 1870
Willie James born about 1872
Jackson James (maybe be a Junior? ) about 1874
Mary James born about 1879
Cora James born about 1877
Cassie James born about 1881

If the father Jackson was about 21- 31 when Christian was born- then his estimated birth date would be about 1839-49 time frame (he could of been older). More than likely the mother of the children was related to Alexander. This land (Burnet County TX) was deeded in 1887 so maybe that is the time the mother died. I am afraid this information is either in Burnet County or Lampasas TX to find out. It would seem reasonable that the father with four of his youngest children would live in an area where he had family to help? Mills County, TX.

I was wondering if you had more on your Jackson JAMES? I am ran out to the Duren Cemetery in Mills County, TX and took a photo of Jackson and Nancy Jane JAMES Headstone.

Also, I have found these two births record in the Mills County TX courthouse Birth records and since the women were both named Nancy, there is a slight chance they are the same person, both married to a Jackson JAMES

Parents: Jackson JAMES and Nancy Jane JONES
Robert Eugene born Jan 24, 1893 Delayed birth BK 8, page 34

Parents: Jackson JAMES and Nannie SPENCER
Victoria Lee born May 26, 1891 Delayed birth BK 10, page 548

She was the tenth child only 7 living and this record filed 65 years after her birth- Aff A signed by a R.E. James on Aug
18, 1956 in Erath County, TX _ (this could be the Robert Eugene James listed above with Nancy Jane Jones as mother)

Thanks for any help
