Carl and Barbara,
Sorry I missed your 2003 reply to my 2002 query about Claude and other Peppers. A number of years ago my wife, Helen Taylor, and I came to Alvarado to a Peppers funeral. It may have been that of Carl's dad. We talked to several relatives and got genealogical information. I may have even talked to Carl at the time.
Since about 1985 I have been gathering info on descendants of Anthony Taylor, who came to Burnet County in the late 1860s. His daughter Margaret Caroline "Callie" Taylor is the one who married William Henry Peppers in 1883 in Burnet.
Anthony is Helen's great-grandfather, and he was James William Peppers GGF as well, making them 2nd cousins.
I am just getting ready to print a book on Anthony Taylor's descendants and was going over the Forums, Message Boards, and mailing lists to see if there were any last minute changes or additions when I found your post.
I called a while ago and left a message and my phone number. I can send you a .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file of the Peppers chapter if you have a reader for it. Or a .txt file you can open in Wordpad (part of Windows). The tabs aren't exactly right in Wordpad, but there is no trouble reading the file.
I have only a poor picture of Callie. Do you have other pictures of Peppers of, say, your age or older that I could include in the book? Individuals or groups.
We live in Arlington.
