The Parks family is complicated and unclear, at least to me it is. The oldest ancestors of the Brown County Parks family that I am aware of was John and Elizabeth (McMillen) Parks of Anderson Co. TX. They settled in Texas in 1839, moving from Marshall Co. MS. John and Elizabeth had 10 children in Mississippi but they were married in Lincoln Co. TN. At least four of their children moved from Anderson Co. TX to Brown County TX.

Ward Parks, was a salesman for my great grandfather Peyton Green Whaley at a wholesale grocery in Brownwood. Ward later qwned a retail grocery at 901 Austin Ave. Ward Parks moved to his home at 1712 Ave. E, which was across Ave. E from our home at 1711 Ave. E. His son, Houston Parks would live in Ward Parks' home. Houston Parks, my mother's second cousin, worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and had at least two children, Peggy and Ann Parks.
