Kay, I am the Great Granddaughter of Japer M. THOMPSON (born 13 Sept. 1844 in Cherokee, Alabama) and his first wife, Hester Ann MCDONOUGH (born 15 March 1843 in Jackson County, Alabama). Together, they had three children: my Grandfather, William Andrew THOMPSON (born 14 August 1870); a daughter named Matildy Jane (born 7 Oct 1871); and a son, Mercer Patterson (born 31 May 1874). Hester Ann died 30 June 1874 in Collin County, Texas. Given the dates, I assume she died from complications of childbirth with Mercer. Mercer died on 3 October 1874 at about four months of age. They are both buried in Highland Cemetery, Collin County, Texas.
Jasper remarried in 1878 to Mary Elisabeth Stuart. She was the only mother that my great grandfather remembered. He grew up in this family. I wondered if you had any information about Matildy Jane? I have no record of her after her birth was recorded in the family Bible. You mentioned being in contact with Laverne DUNCAN WACHOB. I wondered if she remembered Matildy Jane as part of her mother's family.
My father, Oris Olden THOMPSON, is the youngest child of William Andrew THOMPSON. He has never seen a photograph of his grandfather, Jasper M. THOMPSON. In one of your messages, you mentioned that you had a photo of Jasper with his second family. Is there any way that I could obtain a reproduction of this photo? I know that time is the main cost, but I would be happy to reimburse you for any expenses. If you would like to discuss this further, please email me at email@example.com.
Well, there are a few questions that I have. I have information on the family of William Andrew THOMPSON if you are interested. I look forward to hearing from you or others who are interested in THOMPSONS in Brown and Collin County. I promise to respond more promptly. I have been slowed by travel and illness.
