The college campus was listed in the 1900 U.S. Census, Brazos Co., precinct 7, pp.9a -9b. However, there are very few persons listed as living on the campus at that time, and it is likely - I think - that the census was taken after college graduation, when most of the students had gone home and many of the campus families had left for the summer vacation. Also, some of the campus faculty and staff lived in other precincts, either in Bryan or elsewhere. I am not related to the Banks family but have collected various notes about this family while researching Brazos County history. First, here are items about the Banks women on campus: [Banks, William A., Mrs.], "College in 1876," reprinted in Adams, John A., Jr., Keepers of the Spirit: The Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University, 1876-2001. College Station: Texas A&M University Press, 2001, pp.12-14. Unsigned account of life at the College during the first few months, including a visit by Mary Hunt (later Affleck), apparently written by Mrs. W.A. Banks. "The A. and M. College," Galveston Daily News, 13 March 1893, p.5. "On Friday night the following programme was successfully rendered by the Campus club at the mess hall parlors ..." Performers included Miss Lucy Johnson, Mrs. Banks, and Miss Curtis. "A. and M. College," Galveston Daily News, 17 February 1896, p.3. "The two literary societies, the Austin and the Calliopean, met as usual Saturday night. The programme was very interesting. The debate was: 'Resolved; that Co-Education is Best.' Affirmative, Hassell; negative, Kerr. After being warmly discussed by both sides the decision was given in favor of the negative ... Miss McKensie of Bryan is visiting Miss Rita Sbisa. Miss Bessie Ross returned Saturday from Houston. Misses Adams and Clark of Bryan are visiting Mrs. A.L. Banks ...." "Agricultural and Mechanical College," Galveston Daily News, 2 March 1896, p.6. "Mrs. J.G. Harrison entertained last Saturday afternoon with a Martha Washington tea party ... Those present were Mesdames L.S. Ross, B. Sbisa, T.C. Bittle, C.W. Hutson and W.A. Banks." "Agricultural and Mechanical College," Galveston Daily News, 13 April 1896, p.6. "... Miss Stella Shephard of Bryan is visiting Miss Bessie Ross ... Miss Katie McKenzie of Bryan is visiting Miss Mary Bittle ... Miss Marie Adams of Bryan is visiting Mrs. A.L. Banks ... Miss West of Bryan is visiting the family of Prof. Hutson." "Bryan," Galveston Daily News, 11 September 1899, p.7. "Mrs. F.E. Giesecke and children of College are visiting at New Braunfels. Misses Edna and Alma Foster of College have gone to attend school at Belton. Prof. and Mrs. R.H. Whitlock have returned to College from Mackinac, Mich. Mrs. A.L. Banks and Children have returned to College after visiting in Dallas ...." "Proceedings of the Woman's Industrial Congress," in Proceedings of the Fourth Annual Session of the Texas Farmers' Congress Held at Agricultural and Mechanical College, College Station, Texas, July 23 to 26, 1901. Compiled and edited by the President and Secretary of the Congress, pp.138-159. Took place on July 24th and 25th. "It is with sincere pleasure that we greet so many ladies at this, our first meeting. Ours is a rather unique gathering among women's gatherings; we come as the advance couriers, so to speak, of a new school, wherein old studies are reviewed, new ones taken up and their teachings applied." Charter members included: Mrs. A.L. Banks, College Station; Mrs. L.L. Foster, College Station; Mrs. W.A. Banks, Bryan; Mrs. J.J. Adams, Bryan; Mrs. A.H. Royal, College Station, Mrs. J.H. Connell, College Station, and a number of women from out of town. "Society," Bryan Daily Eagle, 6 October 1901, p.3. "Mrs. A.L. Banks, the new president of the College Ladies' Campus Club, entertained the ladies of the campus ..." Fifth Annual Session of the Texas Farmers' Congress Held at Agricultural and Mechanical College, College Station, Texas, July 15 to 18, 1902. Compiled and edited by the President and Secretary of the Congress, pp.175-183. "Papers were read and discussed in an able manner, the most important of which were those relating to the home, to the kindergarten and to the industrial education of girls. Those who were prominent in the discussions were Mesdames ... Rosa Fountain Howell and Sims, of Bryan; Mrs. J.H. Connell and A.L. Banks, of College.... The women of the Congress have put a strong shoulder to wheel and will in the near future succeed in working out many much needed reforms along economic lines." "Mrs. Bizzell Entertains in Honor of Mrs. A.L. Banks," Bryan Daily Eagle, 28 November 1914, p.6. Next, here are notes about William A.
