Brazoria County marriage records show that a Hudson Gaston married Caroline T. Austin on 19 November 1845, Rev. R. G. Brown, Probationary Minister, officiating. Another record I've seen says the license was issued 7 Nov. 1845. Heritage Howerton, Sr., Justice of the Peace, officiated 12 December 1846, when the couple remarried. The 1846 tax list shows Gaston as a resident of Fort Bend County. (That may be where the gin was located.) Hudson Gaston's estate was probated in Fort Bend County, but I'm not sure of the year or years it was probated. I know it was before 1856 because on 27 Feb 1856 Mrs. Caroline T. Gaston married Emmett Jones in Fort Bend County. (An Annie Gaston married a J. R. Castleton in Fort Bend Co. on 6 Dec 1866 and an estate of a Robert Gaston was probated in Fort Bend Co. in the 1830's or '40's.) Caroline Thomas (her mother's surname) Austin was the daughter of William Tenant Austin, brother of John Austin.
