Liz, Thanks for the reply.
We did order the application via the method you suggested. We found that he was the right man unless there is another John Arbuckel Rodgers with that birthdate. He was born in Hico TX to William Joseph Rodgers and Lillie Eliza Hart. His address when applying was 1133 Austin St., San Antonio TX in 1938. Luckily, we have a cousin who lives in Hico who also has the genealogy "bug" so have asked her to check out the Hico sources.
Thanks for the tip on ordering the certificate of death, I will check the county web site to find the address.
I hope the SSA comes through for me on another line - I have ordered my great-uncle's application, hoping to find more Craig information on my ggrandmother. I really appreciate this service.
