There was a Joel Norris who married Matilda Beckham in 1826 GA and is listed in the 1840 & 1850 Harris Co. GA census. Joel is thought to be the brother of James Norris listed in Monroe Co. GA. James' family bible is listed on the Norris genforum.
Who James' and Joels' father was is still questionable? I, personally, feel it was a William Robert Norris who lived to be close to 90, last listed in the 1840 Macon Co. GA census and listed as "Robert Norris." Still looking into it though!
My ggg-grandfather was Anderson Martin Norris, Methodist Minister, b. 1807 in South Carolina. His oldest son William Edward Norris (my gg-grandfather) b. 1834 in Greene Co. GA was John Rufus Norris' father who is listed in the 1900 Bowie Co. TX census.
If you look at the 1840 Harris Co. GA census Anderson Norris is enumerated as "A.M. Norris" along with MANY Walker families including an "A.M. Walker" whom I have research and turns out his full name was "Anderson Martin Walker," so I would tend to think there is a connection to your husband's family and my line of Norris? I also believe we are related to James and Joel Norris who I listed above?
