I am looking for information about my grandfather, John William Guin who was one of the proprietors of the Rock Livery Barn in Clifton, Texas as verified through advertisements in the Clifton Record in the 1904 – 1914 time frame. The earliest record was the write up of the marriage of my grandparents, John William Guin and Dora White on June 4, 1904, preformed by A. D. Sparkman, as recorded in the Meridian paper. This article mentioned that my grandfather was from Valley Mills.
My great grandmother, Rebecca Guin (age 60) was in the Federal Census for Bosque County, Texas. The information was as follows:
1900 Census – Valley Mills Vol. 10, E.D. 10, sheet 2, line 41
Rebecca Guin was married to Zimri Guin who was a confederate veteran from Alabama. Any information you can find about gravesites for Rebecca’s family would be appreciated.
Also residing in Bosque County, was the White family in Clifton. My great grandfather, David A. White, was also one of the proprietors of the Rock Livery Barn in Clifton. He was married to Sarah (Sallie) Ann Darden in 1870. They owned a farm outside Clifton and had twelve children. She was the daughter of Robert Seaborn Darden who was a confederate veteran of Company G of the 17th Texas Calvary Regiment.
