Jim,

I noticed this other posting, and also remembered the two roads between Hico and Iredell. One meandered along near the Bosque River, and was near our 2nd farm, that we owned in Bosque County. Roy and Ila (could have been Iona, but don't think so) lived near the other road, the upper road, which ran a more direct path between Hico and Iredell. The old upper road had a low water crossing, across the Duffeau Creek, which never had any water in it until a heavy rain, and then it flooded. Lots of People lost their lives driving into the crossing. When they straightened out the road, they also built a bridge, which ended the low-water crossing problem.
