I just started reading some of these items on Bosque County, and believe that I can help you on some of this. As far as I know it was Highway 6, but until it was straightened out, probably in the late 40's or 50's, it was a narrow gravel road that would up with a steep downhill right angle turn about half way between Hico and Iredell.
My parents (and me) lived on a farm about half way between Hico and Iredell. Our house was about a mile or a mile and a half from the Unity Baptist Church, which was an old one room school house before becoming the church. This property bordered the place owned by Roy and Ila Adkinson, and Roy's mother. We visited them many times, and I helped Roy bring in his crops once when he was not in too good a health. I cannot for the life of me remember his mothers name, but certainly knew it at one time. As far as I know, Roy and Ila never had any children.
I left this area in when I went into the Navy in WW2. Wish I could help you more. Maybe my brain will recall something more. Cannot recall any more Adkinsons around that area.
