Hi, I am married to your great uncle Virgil (Tom), brother to your grandfather R.E. Domstead. I am interested in learning the name of Engebret's wife, do you know what it was? Also, how Engebret's and Anton's sister came to this country, and when she came. Do you know when and why Grandpa Roy and Uncle Roe were sent to Oklahoma to live with the family in Lexington or nearby that area? Would you happen to know the name of this family? What few of the Domstad family still living in Bosque County seems to know little about Engebret but a lot about Anton and his family.
Has the Domstad Farm remained under ownership of the family? I tried to look it up and it appears to be just outside of Oslo. I received quite a substantial amount of information from Billy, and then someone from Cranfill Gap emailed me with other data, however, it was mostly about Anton's family. And then a man from Norway emailed me and said the wife of Engebret was not from Norway, or at least he was quite sure she was not on the same ship the brothers sailed on. I have not been able to get him to reply to any questions and it appears his email address has changed.
Are you back in the USA? Your Dad said he was planning a trip to Norway this next summer to look at the farm etc., is that still in the plans?
If you have a genealogy program and have done the family tree back to Ronneg, I would like you to send me an email attachment of this. I have done it up, but with all the datters and sens and sons, I am not sure I have it all correct. Don't send a zipped file because I cannot open it.
It is good to hear from you. Billy was here in the summer and brought the data he received while visiting Cranfill Gap. It seems like the family is reluctant to have family get togethers anymore so sharing of information is limited. Most do not know much family genealogy and are not interested in learning about their past. I believe your Dad said he had a picture of Engebret that he would have copies made from, if this is so, I am most anxious to receive it.
I think I will contact Mildred, Aunt Vi's daughter, and ask if Aunt Vi had any pictures of Uncle Roe's family in Bosque County. Aunt Vi kept most of Uncle Roe's things and did not give them to his son's so there should be pictures and maybe some type of documents.
Let me know what you have that I don't and send any files that you don't mind sharing. I will be deeply grateful for anything you might be able to add.
Cheers, Marlene Joy Prouty-Domstead
