In the 1860, Ouachita County, AR census, around pages 72 and 73, you will find James D Gandy, who around 1869, came to Bosque County with his family. There were a couple of Ward families living near him in Arkansas:

R.S. Ward 30 M Farmer SC
Rebecca A 27 F TN
Mary A 9 F TN
John R 6 M TN
Robert J 4/12 M Ar

G. R. Ward 34 M Farmer AL
Jane 24 F MS
Winny 6 F AR
Julia A 5 F AR
William 3 M AR
Sarah 2 F AR
Lucinda 6/12 F AR

My great grandmother, Martha Gandy, daughter of James D Gandy, married a Ward in Arkansas in the 1850s but we don't know what his first name was. They had 2 children Commodore and Mary Ward. He either died or they were divorced, we don't know. She remarried an A Davis. They had an only child, James Jefferson Davis. Martha and her husband, Ward, met some kind of fate and died at the end of 1861, circumstances unknown. James D Gandy took the 3 grandkids into his home. All this for you info.
