Billie, I am descended from the Margaret Baker/Rolla Davis marriage. Margaret was, as you say, first married to Thomas Nichols. Thomas' brother James wrote a book entitled "Now You Hear my Horn" which is available in some Texas libraries. I bought a brand new copy at a flea market but loaned it to one of my family and they did not return it. It is great reading for anybody connected to the Nichols family.
