Thanks so much for this on the Primitive Baptist Church. I had been told some of it but not all that you have here. How wonderful to have your g.grandmother's bulletin. Those types of documents are great treasures... I wonder about the William Baker and J.M. Baker. Do you have any information on that family, if so, are they connected in any way to yours?
The BAKER connection I have is:
Margaret (Peggy) Baker born 1819 AL (daughter of Moses Baker b.1791 and wife name unknown)married Thomas R. Nichols.
Thomas R. Nichols born 1815 TN died 1847 Guadalupe Co., TX. He was the son of George Washington Nichols b.1795 SC and Mary Ann Walker; making Thomas R. Nichols the brother of James Wilson Nichols b.1820 TN.
Thomas & Margaret Nichols were married 1842 Gonzales Co., TX and had one child, Louisa Jane Nichols born 1844. I have no information on Louisa Jane Nichols.
Margaret Baker-Nichols had a sister named Rachel Baker b.1813 who married Joseph D. Clements (J.D. Clements died 1844 Gonzales Co TX). After her husbands death in 1846 Rachel Baker-Clements married Rollo M. Davis in Gonzales Co., TX. They had one son, Joel Hamilton Davis in 1847... and Rachel Baker-Clements-Davis died 1847 in Gonzales Co., TX
Then.... that left Margaret Baker-Nichols a widow at that time, so she married her sister (Rachel's) husband after her death (Rollo M. Davis).
In 1850 the Gonzales Co TX census shows:
DAVIS, Rolla M., 38, KY
Margarett, wife, 34, AL
CLEMONS, Alexander, 12
NICLES, Louisa, 5, TX
DAVIS, Joel, 3 (son of Rolla Davis & Rachel Baker
DAVIS, Parazade, 3/12, TX
I do not have any information on the parents of Sylvania Pearce... if you have anything in your files, I would appreciate hearing about them.
I have a website that I made on some of the information I have on my NICHOLS line. If you care to look at it, this is the location:
I'll call the Caldwell County Clerk and see if they can make copies of the records for me.
Thanks again for all of this.
