I have just recently found that my great-grandmother was committed to the state hospital twice (once in 1888 and once in 1899). she eventually died there in 1900 of enteritis (sort of an ecoli-like food poisioning) and was buried in their cemetery.
I've read all of the histories I can find by googleing, but I am just wondering if anyone knows what kind of place it was at that time? if the people were treated well? what sort of problems would you have to have had to be committed?
also, if anyone lives close I would be eternally grateful if someone could take a picture of her grave for me.
