Glen Bliss, Jr., USMC (Honorably Discharged) and lifelong San Antonio resident, entered into eternal rest on September 22, 2003 at the age of 81. He was born February 24, 1922 in San Antonio to Glendower and Flora Powell Bliss, Sr. Mr. Bliss served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and retired from Kelly Air Force Base after 46 years of service as the Section Chief with the Aircraft Maintenance Department. Mr. Bliss was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, former member of the V.F.W., the American Legion, the D.A.V., and was a former Cootie. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carmen Laroe. Mr. Bliss is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joan Bliss; son, Glendower Bliss III and wife Patti Jo of San Antonio; two daughters, Patricia Bliss-Harris and husband Paul of Austin and Joan Blalock and husband Gene of Sunrise Beach, TX; five grandchildren, Eric Heiberg, Bryan Heiberg, Stephanie Bliss, Kellie Bliss and Grayson Bliss; brother, Don A. Bliss and wife Doris of San Antonio; nieces, Sandra Bliss and Donna Marie Bliss; cousins, Gloria Moore and husband Gene and Patsy Gayken and husband Don. Visitation for Mr. Bliss will be held Thursday, September 25, 2003 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2003 at 12:00 Noon at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Reverend Anthony Pesek officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made on Mr. Bliss' behalf to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 2827 Hillcrest, San Antonio, TX 78201. Service arrangements entrusted to the care of Mission Park Funeral Chapels North.
