Death Certificates are available from the Texas Department of Vital Statistics, Texas Health Department, Austin, Texas. It has a web site that will give you details about where to write and how much money to send (As I recall, it's about $9 for a death certificate) Texas Death certificates are private records for 25 years. That means that you have to prove that you are a spouse or a child of anyone who died less than 25 years ago in order to get that person's death certificate.
The Texana/Genealogy Department of the San Antonio Public Library will look up obits in local newspapers, if you have the date of death, make copies of those obits and mail them to you. You should send them a small donation for this service.
The address:
Texana/Genealogy
San Antonio Public Library
600 Soledad Street
San Antonio, TX
Sorry, I don't seem to have the Zip, but you can look it up on the U.S. Postal Service web site.
