I am researching Alexander Yancy and Sarah Esther Fights (Sights) Yancy. They married in 1871 in Prairie, Chariton, Missouri. Later, Sarah married John Stewart in 1896 in Ada, Ponotoc Co., Oklahoma. John Stewart died in 1915 and is buried in Westview Cem. A James Wade signed his funeral paper. James Wade was a boarder of John and Sarah's. Sarah was listed in the 1920 Lewis, Oklahoma Census along with his wife, Lucy, 6 children, Sarah Stward (Stewart) age 71 and daughter Lee Stewart age 15. Sarah died the next year. Sarah's death cert. was signed by a Mrs. James Wade.

Sarah Esther Fights (Sights?) Yancy Stewart was my step great great grandmother, Lee Stewart would be a half great great Aunt. John Stewarts first wife, Nancy Jane Henry Stewart was born in Lawrence Co., Mississippi in 1838, John and Nancy Jane were married and in Louisiana by 1859, had 3 children by 1863. Their 3rd child was my great grandmother, Ida Luvenia Stewart. John served in the civil war 1861 to 1865 for the confederacy. They moved on by 1873 and had a dau. Sallie in 1874 in Red River Co. Tx. Then In 1978 they crossed Red River at Brown's Ferry near Thackerville into Indian Terr. They lived there l year then moved on to near Lebonon for 6 years then 5 miles South of Atoka, Ind. Terr. Nancy Jane Henry Stewart then applied for citizenship in the Choctaw Nation in 1882, finally accomplishing it in 1888. Nancy Jane died in 1895 and John married Sarah Fights yancy in 1896. Nancy Jane and John were my great great grandparents.

I am interested in finding out if Alexander Yancy, Sarah's 1st husband was perhaps kin to John H. Yancy and Von Yancy who moved to Bexar County from up north. John H.Yancy was married to June Conlter and Von was married to Mary Lou. Johnny and June Yancy had Lorraine Nell Yancy in 1927. They came to Corpus Christi Texas to work with my father, Ben. After a very few years the moved back to San Antonio.

I know that Lorraine Nell Yancy married very young but I do not remember her married name. I know she married again in her early 60s, to Orin M. Anderson on 8/1/1987. Lorraine Nell Yancy died 6 Feb. 2003 in Bexar Co., Texas. Did she have children? Does she descendants?

John H. Yancy died quite a while before June. Do not know what happened to Von and Mary Lou Yancy and children.

Someone finished raising Lee Stewart. I do not believe she was raised by John Stewart's family. This might have fallen to the Wade's, since Sarah and Lee were living with them. Perhaps the Wades, one or the other, was kin to Sarah Fights Yancy Stewart?? Who knows? someone I hope.
