I live about 40 miles north of Salado and had never heard of Horse Thief Mountain. But I searched and found it at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txlndmrk/bell.htm
It is listed to the west of Salado or just south of Harker Heights; right between Hog Mountain and Peacock Mountain. These are funny names to me because Texas is so flat - we have no mountains!
