Almarine Dennis and his family in Belton, Bell, Texas in 1880.

I am seeking information on Almarine Dennis (listed as "A" Dennis in the 1870 Texas Census in Belton, Bell, Texas). Based on information on the Census Record, the birth year and birth place match that of the Alabama Census Records of 1850 Morgan County, Alabama.

Almarine is my GGGranfather's oldest brother. My GGGranfather's name is Granville H. Dennis (aka William Granville Dennis and/or Granville Henderson Dennis). Almarine was born in Nelson County, Virginia, although he is listed as being born in Tennessee on the 1870 Census. His wife is listed as Arena, which could be an abbreviated "Lorena". I believe this to be his second wife, which created a second family for Almarine. I know the Dennis Family Bible does not list Almarine, but he is known as the eldest son of William H Dennis (aka William Dennis, William Henderson Dennis, and William Henry Dennis). His first wife was Mary Jane "Polly" Lewis, the sister of Granville's wife, Mildreth Ann Lewis.

Based on the births of the children of Arena, Almarine was in Alabama from ca 1842 to 1852, in Arkansas in 1853, and in Texas from 1854 to the time of his death bef 1880. His second family listed the names of his children as John C (possibly Chesley/Calhoun) born in Arkansas, age 17, Eliza, age 15, born in Texas, George, age 12, born in Texas, James, age 10, born in Texas, and Cora, age 6, born in 1864 (Civil War Service may have contributed to the gap in time between 1860 and 1864).

Any information is appreciated.

Jerry Dennis (GGGrandson of Granville H. Dennis (1820VA-1877AR).
