Sheriff Moody - late 19th Century

My greatgrandfather's brother was named James P. Moody and the family story is that he was the sheriff in Bastrop County. It would have had to be after the Civil War and before his death and therefore between 1865 and 1900. Does anyone have knowledge of James P. Moody or his brother Thomas Moody. Both are buried in Heidenheimer, Texas in Bell County.
