Hi Elsie-- Glad to meet you-- I will add that John T Horton was born in 1859 in a San Antonio Mission but moved as a child with his family into Atascosa county. I have put another query on the Bexar county site having to do with John's having won 2nd place in the 1st roping contest held in San Antonio at the old fairgrounds there. Check that out too---We are trying to put together the rest of the story of Horton in hopes of putting his name into the annals of Atascosa county since Pleasanton is called the "birthplace of the cowboy". I am not a descendant of Horton that I know of -- I am from the Miller and Johnson lines there-- e-mail me or answer on this forum
