Have you found any association between your John Nelson and my Sturdy F. Garner's children or have any reason to think they may be associated other than location?

You said John was born in "TN." Is that an error since all the census records you show have him born in TX?

I believe Sturdy F. Garner's children came to Texas from Mississippi after the Civil War and some I know were still in MS. in 1870. I don't find them in Texas until the 1880 census, but I've found no reason to believe they ever lived in Tennessee or Louisiana.

Since your John never indicates a Mississippi parent I don't believe he is a descendant of Sturdy F. Garner. Perhaps he is a cousin?

Still hoping to learn more about the descendants of Sturdy F. Garner.

Thanks, Diana Garner Ware
