Twomey & Dineen, Cork to Lynn MA

I am looking for any information at all regarding Mary Dineen, and Patrick Twomey, who married and left Cork for the US, ending up in Lynn MA and having Leo, Albert, Joe, William and Mary. They came over to the states around the time of the Irish Civil War or earlier; the story goes my grandfather, William Patrick, was born on the boat over-- they had to leave in a hurry. His birthdate is listed as being in 1917, which would put them coming over after the 1916 Rising, but we do not know if the birthdate is correct. Also it may have been one of the other children who was born on the boat over (or none of them). Patrick got a job diffusing munitions in the Boston Harbor when he first came over. Might he be related to Maurice Twomey?

And what is the story with Mary? We were told her family were against the marriage to Patrick, apparently the Twomeys are of a different class of people than the Dineens, and they didnt want Mary lowering herself. Thats the story, at any rate.

Im in search of the truth (or another version of it). Any help would be appreciated!

All the best

Carrie
