I am posting a message from my Mother. She lives in Maine. She has kept on to this Bible for a long time. I think it is about time it gets back to its rightful owner. But don't know who that will be. I don't know how many names are in it. I am waiting for her answer. From my mother: The bible is enourmous, and the name on the inside cover is Anna B. Sanborn Boston 1836 Her name was Anna B Newhall before marriage in 1829. Then there is a David Twiss( always thought is was spelled with a TWIST) married an Isabelle Newhall in 1865. Archer L. Twiss married Bessie Cleveland Miner in 1900 ( She was my Mother`s half sister) .Dont know if the Bible would be considered belonging to the Sanborn`s or Twiss`s. Who knows where the trail would lead. Maybe someone has connections to either David or Archer Twiss? The Bible is about 10 by 12, and about 5 or 6 inches thick. It also smells moldy notes from me- There is no issue with Bessie and Archer. Bessie couldn't face life without her husband. After she died it passed on to my mother's mother. It later passed to my mother. See if you can find any of the above people in your line- I think the next of kin might be a Twiss- but not sure. My mother is in her seventies and I think you would have to pay for shipping- unless you live near. This message will be posted on Newhall, Sanborn and Twiss forum.
